Firenze soup tureen with green leaf tendrils decoration

The tureen with lid, whose shape is called ‘Florence’, is characterized by handles and a braided ribbon grip and is decorated with a border of stylized fronds composed of neat rows of small heart-shaped green leaves, supported and connected by dark red tendrils. The ornament is completed by gold fillets that underline the profiles of the container. 

This way of synthesizing the naturalistic element and rhythmically marking the surface with weaving lines reflects the decorative trends of the Art Nouveau, which the artistic director Luigi Tazzini interprets at Doccia both in the field of art ceramics and in the production of numerous tableware sets. A similar decoration is illustrated in color with the identification number 3276 in a catalog plate dating back to the first decade of the twentieth century, where it is applied to a coffee set of the ‘Vigna’ shape.
