Vase with lilies on a light blue background

This vase with a simple line, with a low flared neck and a wavy rim at the mouth, is characterized by a precious hand-painted decoration with white lilies on a pale sky-blue background. The shape of the flowering stem is always the same and is repeated three times identically on the body. The rim is marked by a gold fillet that follows the porcelain profile.

Vases of this shape were presented at the 1902 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative Art in Turin, in the dining room designed by Giovanni Buffa for the Richard-Ginori pavilion. The ornaments proposed at the time by the Manufacture on this type of object mainly depicted flowers with leaves and curvilinear stems on delicate pastel-colored backgrounds, in line with the Art Nouveau taste that was developed in Doccia by the artistic director Luigi Tazzini.
