160 works from the Museo Ginori collections are at the heart of the exhibition “Ginori Alchemy 1737–1896. Art and Technique in the Manufactory,” on view at the Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza until 2 June.
Curated by Oliva Rucellai and Rita Balleri, the exhibition offers a new interpretation of two centuries of the history of the Doccia Manufactory, presenting an original narrative of the evolution of ceramics in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and highlighting the dialogue between creativity and material, and between aesthetic research and scientific and technological progress.

Two versions of "Amore e Psiche"

Organised by the Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza and the Fondazione Museo Ginori, the exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue published by SilvanaEditoriale and a programme of guided tours, held every Saturday at 4 pm starting on 7 February. Advance booking is required.

Ginori Alchemy: A Major Exhibition at the M.I.C. in Faenza

The exhibition, curated by Lucia Mannini, Anna Mazzanti, Giulio Paolucci, and Alessandra Tiddia, reinterprets the fruitful connection between archaeological finds and 20th-century artistic production, which often drew inspiration from the original expressive language and techniques of Etruscan art. Alongside the works of Massimo Campigli, Marino Marini, Arturo and Quinto Martini, Alberto and Diego Giacometti, Pablo Picasso, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Mario Schifano, and Gino Severini, the nine works from the Ponti collection of the Museo Ginori tell a fundamental chapter of a story that never ceases to amaze.

The exhibition of Gio Ponti’s Trionfo da tavola inaugurated at Villa Necchi Campiglio

On October 24, the Museo Poldi Pezzoli presented a preview of the exhibition dedicated to the history of the Manifattura di Doccia, from Carlo Ginori to Gio Ponti.
The press conference was attended by the Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, the Mayor of Sesto Fiorentino Lorenzo Falchi, the Regional Director of Museums of Tuscany Stefano Casciu, the President of the Fondazione Poldi Pezzoli Gian Giacomo Attolico Trivulzio, the President of the Fondazione Ginori Tomaso Montanari, and the Director of the Museo Poldi Pezzoli Alessandra Quarto.
The exhibition, curated by Rita Balleri, Oliva Rucellai, and Federica Manoli, opened to the public on October 25 and will run until February 19, 2023. Info and tickets: Museo Poldi Pezzoli.

"The Museo Ginori – explained Lorenzo Falchi – preserves the story of almost three centuries of art, innovation, and excellence. The history of Sesto and its inhabitants is deeply intertwined with that of the Manifattura: in every family in our town, there has been – and fortunately, still today there is – someone who has worked for the manufactory or whose personal history is linked to that of Ginori. For Sesto Fiorentino, the Museum is not just a place of culture, a treasure chest of artworks and unique collections. The Museum is the story of our town, a place of identity, an open book on the past, present, and future. Thanks to the commitment of the Fondazione Ginori, during these years of closure the life of the Museum has never stopped, nor has the thread of a story that, while awaiting reopening, has found and will find new forms, new spaces, and new places. It is a great satisfaction and pride to bring some of the most significant works from the vast production of the Manifattura di Doccia to Milan, in a prestigious venue such as the Museo Poldi Pezzoli. It will be an extraordinary opportunity to admire many expressions of our “white gold,” a heritage of uniqueness and beauty that reflects an entire community."

“The sensations gifted by beauty – declared Giuseppe Sala – give meaning to our existence. A value reaffirmed by this exhibition which, tracing the history of one of the most prestigious European manufactories, sharply highlights the treasure kept within our production system. 'Oro Bianco. Tre secoli di porcellane Ginori' seals the centuries-old bond that unites our city with this Florentine enterprise, which moved its headquarters to Milan at the end of the 19th century. This was the period when our businesses became a benchmark, in Italy and worldwide, for creativity, ingenuity, and innovation in their products, as reminded by the works created under the artistic direction of Gio Ponti.”

Inaugurated at the Museo Poldi Pezzoli the exhibition "Oro bianco. Tre secoli di porcellane Ginori"

Sixty works created between the 18th and 20th centuries, coming from Italian and European museums and private collections, are the protagonists of the exhibition Oro bianco. Tre secoli di porcellane Ginori, scheduled at the Museo Poldi Pezzoli in Milan from October 25, 2023, to February 19, 2024.
Produced by Museo Poldi Pezzoli and Museo Ginori, the exhibition is curated by Federica Manoli, Oliva Rucellai, and Rita Balleri, who envisioned it as a journey through time marked by absolute masterpieces such as the monumental Venere de’ Medici (circa 1747) from the Museo Ginori, by refined pairings of porcelain sculptures exhibited together for the first time with their respective bronze archetypes, by the large vases made for the Universal Expositions, and by the creations of Gio Ponti, among which are the extraordinary Ciste made for Fernanda and Ugo Ojetti, now owned by Museo Poldi Pezzoli.
Throughout the duration of the exhibition, numerous side activities will be organized, including workshops for families, in-depth lectures, and a series of meetings related to the theme of the “culture of the table.”

Three centuries of Ginori porcelains on display at the Museo Poldi Pezzoli from October 25

Exhibition "Arts in Dialogue"

Last two weeks to visit the exhibition “Arti in dialogo”

The exhibition “Arti in dialogo. Echi tardo barocchi nelle sculture del Museo Ginori” was inaugurated today in the magnificent rooms of Palazzo Marucelli-Fenzi. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Rector of the University of Florence Giovanni Tarli Barbieri, the President of the Fondazione Ginori Tomaso Montanari, and the Regional Director of Museums of Tuscany Stefano Casciu, together with Fulvio Cervini, Deputy Director of the Department of History, Archaeology, Geography, Art and Performance (Sagas) of the University of Florence, and the exhibition curators Cristiano Giometti (University of Florence), Andrea Di Lorenzo (Museo Ginori) and Rita Balleri (Museo Ginori).

Until February 17, 2023, in the rooms of Palazzo Marucelli-Fenzi, exceptionally opened to the public for the occasion, a selection of porcelain sculptures and terracotta and wax models from the Museo Ginori engage in an entirely new dialogue with the decorations created by Sebastiano Ricci and Giovanni Baratta between 1705 and 1706.

“The happiest aspect of this occasion – stated Tomaso Montanari, President of the Fondazione Museo Archivio Richard Ginori della Manifattura di Doccia – is that two art places usually inaccessible to the majority of citizens of Florence and the world (namely the rooms of Palazzo Marucelli-Fenzi, extraordinary for the paintings by Sebastiano Ricci and the stuccoes by Baratta, and the Museo Ginori, closed awaiting renovation) become visible again, intertwining and telling, through what is now displayed in museums, the broader context of what is instead still alive and embedded in a palace visited daily by many young women and men who study here. It is a sign of vitality and also a promise for the future close collaboration between the University and the Museum, which share the same mission: research, production of knowledge, and its redistribution. I am very grateful to my colleague Rector Alessandra Petrucci and to the director of the SAGAS Department Paolo Liverani, to Cristiano Giometti, and to all the art history colleagues at the University of Florence.”

“The exhibition Arti in dialogo – stated Cristiano Giometti – is an important opportunity that marks the beginning of the collaboration with the Museo Ginori and offers the chance to open to the public the monumental rooms of Palazzo Marucelli-Fenzi hosting the magnificent decorative cycle by Sebastiano Ricci and Giovanni Baratta. We all hope to be able to start a path of protection and enhancement of these rooms, masterpieces of late Baroque European art.”

“The opportunity to see terracottas, waxes, and porcelains from the Museo Ginori displayed and in dialogue with the beautiful and unknown 18th-century rooms of Palazzo Marucelli-Fenzi – stated Stefano Casciu, Regional Director of Museums of Tuscany – is a must both to admire the quality and beauty of the works purchased or created by the Manifattura Ginori in accordance with the wishes of the Founder, Marquis Carlo Ginori, and to discover one of the most beautiful Rococo contexts of Florence, a jewel that I hope can soon return to wider public accessibility.”
