On the eve of the definitive cessation of its activities, the Associazione Amici di Doccia donated to the Fondazione Museo Ginori a valuable photographic archive containing 1,300 images of works from the museum’s collections. The official handover took place in Rome, in the Vanvitelli Room of the Avvocatura Generale dello Stato, during a meeting between the association’s President, Livia Frescobaldi, and the Foundation’s President, Marco Corsini.
“We are deeply grateful to Livia Frescobaldi and to the entire Associazione Amici di Doccia,” commented Marco Corsini, “for having lovingly and devotedly accompanied an important chapter in the history of the Museo Ginori, for helping to keep it alive in the years following the bankruptcy of Richard Ginori, and for choosing to donate to the Foundation such valuable documentation of the historical and artistic heritage entrusted to its care.”
“In the age of digitalisation,” explained Livia Frescobaldi, “it is essential to have the appropriate tools for communication and the global exchange of information. This awareness led to the creation of the photographic archive, the result of 22 years of work by the Amici di Doccia. Today, we are delighted to transfer this collection of professional images to the Fondazione Ginori, confident that it will be a valuable resource for research and for the museum’s future activities.”
The Next Event
The Associazione Amici di Doccia will conclude its activities with the presentation of the graphic novel L’oro bianco. Il segreto svelato (White Gold. The Secret Revealed), illustrated by Elena Triolo and published by Gallucci Balloon. The event will take place on 26 November at 6.30 pm at Giunti Odeon – Bookshop and Cinema in Florence.
Based on an idea by Livia Frescobaldi, with the scholarly contribution of Museo Ginori curators Oliva Rucellai and Rita Balleri, the graphic novel offers a collective narrative of the Ginori Factory and the many adventures that have shaped its history.
The Associazione Amici di Doccia will donate the royalties from the sale of the book to the Fondazione Ginori.
