Preservation
The primary and essential purpose of the Museo Ginori is the preservation of its heritage. Comprising very diverse works (paper documents, maiolica, earthenware and porcelain artifacts, models in terracotta, plaster, wax, lead and sulfur), the collections present extremely heterogeneous conservation challenges.
In close and ongoing collaboration with the Tuscany Regional of National Museums Directorate, the Fondazione Ginori is committed both to prevention (to monitor and ensure the most suitable environmental conditions for the various materials) and to the study and restoration of the specimens most susceptible to deterioration or in need of intervention.
In November 2021, the Ginori Museum Foundation signed a collaboration agreement with the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, aimed at promoting and developing joint activities in research, training, dissemination, and mutual knowledge transfer, especially in the field of conservation of ceramic and plastic materials as well as paper materials.
Numerous safeguarding interventions for groups or individual works have been made possible thanks to the generous support of the Amici di Doccia and other public and private sponsors such as the Tuscany Region, the Cariforli Foundation, and the International Florence Antique Biennale.
